President Emmerson Mnangagwa has capped 3757 Midlands State University graduands in Gweru today.
The 18th graduation ceremony started with a colourful ceremony as the President installed Professor Muzvidziwa as the university’s second vice chancellor taking over from its founding vice chancellor, a renowned historian Professor Emeritus Ngwabi Bhebhe.
Accepting the mantle, Vice Chancellor Muzvidziwa pledged to follow in the footsteps of the university’s founding fathers.
In their congratulatory remarks, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Professor Amon Murwira and Professor Bhebhe gave the new vice chancellor some advice on how he can maintain the excellence at the institution.
In his key note address, Professor Muzvidziwa stressed that the ground breaking research innovations have contributed to the improved ranking of the university.
The graduation ceremony saw 1 979 females and 1 778 males being capped, among them was Air Force Commander Air Marshal Elson Moyo who graduated with a Master of Science in International Affairs.
ZBC Central Radio producer presenter Loveness Jacob also graduated with a Masters in Media and Society Studies as well as ZBC senior technician Mabel Pasipamire who graduated with a Masters in Telecommunications.
