The Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe has applauded the Zimbabwe Staff College for fostering and cementing relationships in the sub-region through enrolling students from the SADC.
The President was speaking during the graduation ceremony of 54 students from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and neighbouring states towards the weekend.
The Zimbabwe Staff College imparts skills and knowledge to top officers of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and their allied counterparts from the SADC region.
The college also enjoys an associate status with the University of Zimbabwe, a position which has seen the institution offering diploma courses in defence and security studies and in adult defence education.
In its quest to maintain the international reputation, the college has continued to solidify its strong ties with the People’s Liberation Army from the People’s Republic of China.
In his address at the ceremony, Cde Mugabe said he would like to see the college enrolling students from all SADC states thus overcoming the language barrier which has been hindering the participation of some countries such as Mozambique.
Defence Minister, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, senior members of the country’s defence forces, diplomats and relatives of the graduates attended the graduation ceremony.
