president mugabe at sabinas funeral.jpgHead of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe, has send a condolence message to the Patel family following the death of Cde Kantibhai Gordanbhai Patel on Saturday morning in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In his message, Cde Mugabe said the late Patel was a veteran nationalist and astute politician who belonged to the rare breed of courageous non-African revolutionaries in Zimbabwe.

He said Cde Patel’s contributions to the liberation struggle and his philanthropic work are well documented and shall remain etched in the annals of the history of Zimbabwe.

President Mugabe said he recalls the late Patel’s heroic political activities in the National Democratic Party, the Zimbabwe African People’s Union and the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front.

On behalf of Zanu PF, the government and the entire nation and on his own behalf, President Mugabe expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Patel family, particularly his children who have lost a strong pillar of support both spiritually and physically.
