The two leaders exchanged notes on a variety of issues concerning their two countries, the region, Africa and the United Nations.

President Bingu Wa Mutharika currently chairs the African Union (AU) and recently they held a summit in Kampala, Uganda.

The two countries are also expected to attend this month’s SADC summit followed by the United Nations General Assembly in New York where a review of the Millenium Development Goals will take place.

Malawi is one of the countries that stood with Zimbabwe despite the pressures exerted by the West and the donor community.

Dr Wa Mutharika even named one of the streets in Malawi, ‘Mugabe Highway’.
