President Robert Mugabe met with the visiting president of World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), Mr Nikolas Papadimitriou at State House in Harare this evening.

Mr Papadimitriou delivered a special message in which the 19th World Festival for Youths and Students to be held in Sochi, Russia will recognise President Mugabe as one of the 4 world leaders who have spearheaded the fight against imperialism.

The other leaders are Fidel Castro Ruz of Cuba, Chez Guevara of argentina and the late Abdel Aziz of Western Saharawi.

The president of the WFDY is accompanied by DRC Youth League leader, Patrick Nkanga and two SWAPO youth leaders Naftau Kambunga and Ephraim Nekongo.

Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Kudzai Chipanga said the WFDY has invited President Mugabe to be present at the opening of the 19th Youth and Students Festival which kicks off on the 15th of this month.

“The recognition of President Mugabe as one of the major fighters against imperialism is a great honour for Zimbabwe and the African continent,” said Cde Chipanga.

The World Festival for Youth and Students is the biggest gathering of students convened by WFDY since 1947 when Africa was fighting colonialism and Europe was fighting fascism.
