President of the World Federation for Democratic Youths (WFDY), Cde Nikolas Papadimitriou has commended President Robert Mugabe for being an international icon of anti imperialism.

A high powered delegation from the WFDY are in the country to invite President Mugabe to the International Festival of the Youths to be held in Russia this month.

The youths toured the National Heroes Acre and laid wreaths on the tomb of the unknown soldier and the late first two Vice Presidents Cde Joshua Nkomo and Cde Simon Muzenda. 

Cde Papadimitriou said youths draw inspiration from Cde Mugabe for his fearless approach in addressing imperialism.

Other members of the organisation concurred that the work by President Mugabe shapes the future of generations.

Meanwhile, Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Kudzanayi Chipanga said the invitation extended to President Mugabe is testimony of his visionary leadership not only in Zimbabwe but the world over.

The delegation also includes youth leaders from DRC and Namibia.

The International Festival of the Youths is expected to attract more than 30 000 delegates’ world over and is expected to open on the 14th to the 22nd of October.
