national heroes acre.jpgWork is underway at the National Heroes Acre in Harare and at other memorial sites across the country’s provinces in preparation for the National Heroes’ Day commemorations on Monday.

Speaking to ZBC News, National Museums and Monuments Executive Director, Dr. Godfrey Mahachi said a special feature at this year’s commemorations will be the unveiling of the statue of the late Vice President, Dr Joshua Nkomo.

The national shrine and the provincial burial sites in and outside the country were established at independence to give respect to the sons and daughters of the soil who played a big role in the attainment of independence.

Dr.  Mahachi urged Zimbabweans to converge at the various shrines to remember the country’s fallen heroes.
