The Zimbabwe Ex-Political Detainees and Restrictees Association has been challenged to brace up for the coming elections by preaching peace and harmony and urged to encourage people to register to vote for the ruling party.

With their experience as political prisoners and ex-detainees ZIPPDRA members have been called to preach peace and harmony ahead of the general election.

Secretary General for Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Cde Victor Matemadanda told the ZBC News on the sidelines of a meeting with national and provincial leaders of ZIPPDRA that they have to play their role of defending the interests of the new political leadership.

Cde Matemadanda also said the welfare of ex-political detainees should be top prioritised in terms of benefiting from the constituency development fund.

Ex-political prisoners, detainees and restrictees were part of those tortured and persecuted during the liberation struggle.
