Religious organisations have been challenged to pray for unity, peace and stability and above all to actively participate in national programmes.

The call was made by the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Cde Miriam Chikukwa in Tynwald during the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Harare West Province’s conference.

In an interview on the sideline of the conference, Cde Chikukwa, who represented the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe, called upon religious organisations to pray for continued unity, peace and stability in the country before, during and after the 2018 elections.

She said there is need for church members to partner the government in rolling out development programmes.

Cde Chikukwa also urged religious leaders to encourage their followers to register and vote in the coming elections and above all to preach the gospel of unity and tolerance.

AFM Harare West Province Overseer, Reverend Cossam Chiyangwa said it is important for church members to pray for their leaders.

Religious organisations are critical players in shaping national development and promotion of peace and unity.

The AFM later donated foodstuffs to the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe as support towards her Mazoe orphanage.
