Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has underscored the role of public private partnerships (PPPs) in the provision of housing.

He said this in Kadoma during a ground breaking ceremony for Craft Properties’ agri-residential project development at the new Mandalay area.

The project consists of 93 plots measuring approximately 4000m2 each and the land was provided by the government.

“It is the government’s desire to ensure that everyone has access to decent shelter and as such, we will continue to facilitate the involvement of private sector players in housing development projects,” Cde Mnangagwa said.

Craft Properties Managing Director, Mr Kudakwashe Taruberekera told guests that the company has also completed servicing Holyland high density area consisting of over 1500 stands for low income earners, who pay for the stands in installments.

According to Vice President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe has a housing waiting list backlog of 1,5 million.
