Poultry producers have been called upon to workÂ towards earning ZimbabweÂ exportsÂ and maintainingÂ out growerâ€™sÂ schemes that are vital in providingÂ technical know how to farmers.Â
The plea by government follows a plunge in the exports of the poultry products over the past few years owing to operational challenges brought about by the difficult economic environment.
Addressing players in the poultry industry gathered at the 5th anniversary of the local broiler breeding company Hubbard Zimbabwe Minister of Agriculture Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Dr. Joseph Made said stakeholders in the industry should harness prevailing resources in increasing the export volumes.
Crest Poultry Group trading as Hubbard Zimbabweâ€™s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Joram Nyahora said the group is currently in the process of exploring new markets on the continent including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo Brazzaville as well as increasing production of day old chicks to meet local demand.
Established in 2005, Hubbard Zimbabwe has been on the forefront in the provision of complete poultry packages to farmers including broiler day old chicks, chicken products and animal health products among other services.
