A police officer and his two accomplices, who were found in possession of a live pangolin in Honde Valley have appeared in court facing allegations of contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.
A police officer, Weedmore Kadhoro (35) and his two accomplices Juda Nyandoro (56) and Simon Nyadundu (23) appeared before Mutare Magistrate, Sekai Chiundura facing allegations of possessing specially protected animals and products.
It is the State’s case that on 23 August last year, police received information to the effect that the trio was in possession of a pangolin.
A trap was set up using undercover police officers which resulted in the arrest of the accused after they failed to produce a permit.
Kadhoro, Nyandoro and Nyadunhu have since been granted $400 bail each and are expected to be back in court on 2 October.
