Political leaders in Zimbabwe have offered to assist the government in the engagement and re-engagement efforts in order to push for the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the West and its allies which have caused untold suffering on the majority of the populace for nearly two decades.
In a statement to ZBC News, Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe (RDZ) and Code leader, Mr Trust Chikohora’s offer comes barely two days after the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) held a meeting in Harare to discuss among other issues on the economy especially price increases.
He said corruption as well as non-performance by some government officials are some of the issues raised at the first POLAD meeting after the launch last month.
The issue of discontinuing the bond note was also raised at the meeting but it was agreed that the economic fundamentals currently do not allow for the return of the Zim dollar and it was suggested that Zimbabwe should use stable foreign currencies for now in order to stabilise the economy.
Mr Chikohora said the dialogue will continue with further deliberations before the end of this month.
