Police in Filabusi, Matabeleland South Province are investigating two separate murder cases that occurred at Masibambaneni village in Insiza District at the weekend.
Villagers were left shell shocked following the murder of 32 year, Xolisani Dube in cold blood after an alleged misunderstanding during a game of snooker.
The incident occurred on the 7th of this month when the deceased joined the five suspects; Radolf Tshuma, Handsome Mwinde, Standson Dube, Thandolwenkosi Sibanda and Bongani Tshuma at around 10.pm in playing pool.
It is understood that an argument ensued during the game, resulting in the suspects attacking Dube with a stone and killing him in the process.
The suspects immediately fled the scene and police have since arrested one of the suspects.
Councillor for the area, Mr Dumisani Mathuthu urged the police to enforce the Liquor Act by ensuring that public drinking spots close early as most crimes of violence are being perpetrated at liquor outlets at night.
Meanwhile, another villager from the same area was murdered by an unknown person on the same day.
It is alleged that Ms Savie Moyo (63) and her daughter, Nobhukhosi, retired to bed in separate huts at around 8.pm and later around 11.pm, the later heard a sound of a banging door, forcing her to wake up and investigate.
Nobukhosi found her mother lying in pool of blood as she had been hit on the head with a unknown object.
She was taken to Filabusi District Hospital where she died the following day.
Police are still investigating the murder and no arrests have been made so far.
