Business went to a halt this Thursday (today) at Tobacco Sales Floor as members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) fought endless battles with some farmers who were demanding their dues.

The battle between which started around 10 in the morning saw serious clashes with some farmers and police details.

It is alleged that the disgruntled farmers were complaining about their payments but their peaceful demonstration was later hijacked by individuals who were now fighting running battles with police.

Farmers who spoke to the ZBC News said they wanted to be paid their money in time to cushion them against all the expenses incurred.

Meanwhile, national police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said they have since recovered a gun which was taken during the skirmishes by some rogue elements.

Tobacco sales floor management refused to comment on camera.

However, they said off camera, it was an unfortunate incident.
