6 foreigners and 2 Zimbabweans who are facing charges of poaching 3 rhinos have been denied bail by Harare magistrate, Ms Vongai Muchuchuti.
In her bail application ruling, the magistrate said the accused are not suitable candidates for bail.
The rhinos valued at US$45 000 were poached in Guruve and Masvingo and an elephant task and an AK 47 were also recovered from the accused.
The 8 are charged for contravening some sections of the Wildlife Act which criminalises the hunting of special animals.
The 8 who include DRC national Yemba Pauni Mulamba and his two sons Lomone Mulamba and Yemba Mulamba, Wiljoni Meki , Justin Tembo, Patrick Chibila of Zambia and two Zimbabweans Shapiro Tagwirei and Owen Godzi were arrested at a tollgate along the Harare- Masvingo highway.
It has also emerged that the foreigners came to Zimbabwe as refugees and were staying at Tongogara refugee camp.
