rhino poaching.jpgThree suspected poachers, Zivanai Masvaire, Shepard Naite and Charles Ndowerowe have appeared before a Harare magistrate facing charges of contravening Section 45 of the Parks and Wildlife Act.

The three were found in possession of Rhino horns and two elephant tusks.

It is alleged that the three together with three others who are still at large pounced on a farm in Marondera where they killed a 12-year old Rhino bull before transferring it to Harare with the intention of transporting it to South Africa.

The rhino horns and elephant tusks were discovered at Roadport.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing the accused have applied to have the matter proceed by way of summons saying their clients have been in custody for too long.

The first accused Masvaire was arrested on the third of January, while the second and the third accused, Naite and Ndowerowe were arrested on the fourth.
