The Dairiboard Schools Rugby Festival ended in Harare yesterday with Prince Edward High School overcoming arch rivals, Churchill 16-10.
In another thrilling contest at Prince Edward, St Georges College got the better of Kyle College 17-14 in a nail biting contest on the final day of an event that produced entertaining rugby.
Among the big crowd at Prince Edward on Saturday was the Zimbabwe Rugby Union President Aaron Jani who was excited by the level of competitiveness at this year’s competition.
When quizzed on efforts being made to ensure all schools are exposed to competitive action when away from the festival, Jani said with the focus having been at the elite level in recent months, the ZRU is in the process of analysing the development structure.
The Dairiboard Schools Rugby Festival has grown into an important competition which involves a lot of the emerging local rugby talent in schools.
Tendai Mtawarira, Brian Mujati and Tonderai Chavhanga are some of the players to participate in the school rugby festival which has grown to include schools in remote areas while also embracing the girl child.
