Pastor German Muchechetere,Â father of ZBC Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Happison Muchechetere,Â has died.
Pastor Muchechetere was born on the 18th of August 1918 in Gutu, Masvingo province, died at St. Anneâ€™s Hospital in Harare on Wednesday.
He did his education at Allite mission and proceeded to train as a teacher at Morgenster College.
He later resigned and trained as a pastor at Solusi University.
Pastor Muchechetere started his mission as a pastor at Mukwasi School, Nyazura and later continued at Jerera, Gutu, Ruya Mission of the Seventh Day Adventist in Mt. Darwin, Rimuka in Kadoma and Chinyenyetu in Gokwe, where he eventually retired.
He is survived by nine children, 21 grandchildren and 12 great grand children.
Mourners are gathered at Number 55, Bargate Street, Vainona.
Meanwhile the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Cde Webster Shamu, has sent a message of condolences to the Muchechetere family following the death of Pastor German Muchechetere.
In his message, Cde Shamu described the late pastor as a community leader who selflessly dedicated himself to the service of the countryâ€™s marginalised rural communities both as an educationist and a clergyman.
Cde Shamu added that the late pastor will be remembered for his long life of tirelessly investing in people and helping them to achieve and maintain a high standard of life both mentally and spiritually.
The Minister also consoled the Bwititi family following the death of veteran journalist, Makuwerere Bwititi.
Makuwerere died from renal failure in Namibia on the 29th of last month.
Cde Shamu said throughout his career, Bwititi gave the right political and ideological direction to the people of Zimbabwe and the region through his pen and he helped expand and consolidate Zimbabwe-Namibia cooperation in the media field.
