The government will next week unveil new boards for the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC), Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamonds Company (ZCDC), the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) and also revamping the Hwange Colliery Company board.

The Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Cde Winston Chitando disclosed this to parliament as he was giving evidence on a number of issues pertaining to his ministry.

Cde Chitando told parliament the new boards will be chaired by people with more than 10 years’ experience in mining and half the board members will also have requisite experience in mining.

Parliament, which plays an oversight role, also interrogated the Minister on the Kamativi mining deal and the outgoing ZMDC board, which is now going to terminate the deal entered into with a Chinese investor who failed to raise $100 million ahead of the consummation of the deal.
