Legendary music producer and executive director, Joe Maseko has been given a heroes burial at Luveve cemetery in Bulawayo.

Maseko died in the city on Saturday after a short illness and mourners described him as a luminary who has helped shape and develop the industry across the region.

Also known as Papa Joe in the music circles, Maseko has worked and natured some of the big names in the music industry such as Jays Marabini and Sandra Ndebele and has also worked with international artists like Culture Spears of Botswana.

The artists in Bulawayo have since produced a single which is a tribute to Maseko titled Papa Joe.

It is filled with assurances that his legacy lives on.

Maseko (44) had a rich career in producing and directing music spanning over 21-years.

He was the Executive Director at Gwabalanda’s House of Rising Sounds Studio which is credited for nurturing almost 95 percent of notable artistes from Bulawayo.
