The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Cde Monica Mutsvangwa has saluted the outgoing ZBC board of directors for successfully turning around the operations of the cooperation.

She said this during a farewell dinner held for the directors in the capital last night.

The ZBC board of directors was chaired by Father Fidelis Munyoro and its tenure of office expired at the beginning of the year, a five year tenure which Minister Mutsvangwa said was very fruitful as the corporation managed to recover from a loss making organisation to a profitable one.

“The board turned ZBC around, revenue rose by 22 percent and viewership and listenership also increased,” she said.

Honourable Mutsvangwa was accompanied by her deputy Cde Energy Mutodi and the Permanent Secretary in the Information Ministry Mr Nick Mangwana.

The outgoing board chairman Father Munyoro took time to thank the government for its continued support to the parastatal.

“ZBC is a very important parastatal which comes with a lot of challenges and we managed to pull through because of the support from government,” he said.

Some of the outgoing board of directors’ members includes Professor Charity Manyeruke, Mr Pritchard Zhou, Ms Rudo Mudavanhu, Dr Ndabezihle Dholdhlo, Mr Donald Khumalo and Blessing Rugara.

The farewell dinner was also attended by the ZBC Chief executive Mr Patrick Mavhura and senior ZBC management.
