The Office of the President and Cabinet has joined President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Mugabe family and the nation at large in mourning the death of the founding father of post independent Zimbabwe, Cde Robert Mugabe.
In a special tribute to the late former president, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said the nation and Africa as a whole have indeed lost a selfless revolutionary leader, an outstanding nationalist and Pan-Africanist par excellence.
Dr Sibanda said the former president, Cde Robert Mugabe left an enduring legacy of commitment to national peace and unity, which he pursued through his far-sighted policy of national reconciliation and the 1987 Peace Accord.
He also said Cde Mugabe will be remembered by the generality of Zimbabweans for his firm stance against the onslaught from immoral foreign sub-cultures that sought to destroy the moral fabric, family system, cultural and christian values.
The Chief Secretary also said the late national hero will be remembered for championing the land redistribution programme which has benefited the former marginalised black majority.
