Social media experts who are in the country to conduct training and workshops on online safety say online users are falling victim of cyber bullies because they do not report such cases in time.

Many people continue to fall victim of cyber bullies on online platforms and cases of cyber crimes are on the increase.

However facebook experts who are in the country said despite availability of policies and tools to ensure users’ safety, users do not report such cases.

Facebook’s Public Policy Manager for Africa, Akua Gyekye said there is need for more training and open dialogue with users regarding online safety to ensure they are enlightened.

The government through a number of policies is committed to ensuring that citizens are protected from cyber terrorists and bullies said the director for policy and e-governance in the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Mrs Georgina Chingonzo.

The training and workshop sessions by facebook are aimed at fostering online safety within the African internet ecosystem as well as creating an open dialogue in social media safety.
