Dynamos maintained their 100% record in the league so far this season when they edged their boggey side Lengthens by one goal to nil, in a Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro Stadium in Harare Thursday afternoon.
It was sweet victory for DeMbare who registered only their second win in their last 6 encounters with their boggey side Lengthens.
A rejuvenated Evans Gwekwerere who went into the game having scored two goals in two league matches extended his tally to 3 goals this season, when he scored a solitary strike for the Glamour boys in the 43rd minute, as he volleyed home from inside the box, much to the delight of the Dembare faithfuls.
In the second half, Dynamos came out blazing in a bid to stretch their lead and could have gone further ahead in the 48th minute only to be denied by Muzondiwa Gonese who blocked Gwekwerere’s effort.
Attempts by Lengthens to change the tempo of the game through the introduction of Patrick Milias and Bruce Chuma were all in vain as Lengthens evidently lacked creativity in the last third of the pitch.
Dembare could have killed off the game as a contest in the 83rd minute, but Desmond Maringwa’s effort went into the hands of Gonese after the Dynamos veteran midfielder was fed with the head by Gwekwerere.
Dynamos gaffer Elvis Chuchu Chiweshe was elated by his sides victory while his counterpart Mandla Masuku bemoaned lack of imagination by his strike force.
Having won all their league games so far with Gwekwerere scoring in all encounters, the ‘Glamour Boys’ will be hoping to continue with their impressive form when they travel to Hwange at the weekend, while Lengthens will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat when they host reigning league champions Gunners on Saturday.
