A road rehabilitation programme has been rolled out in Nyanga South constituency to repair damages caused by the incessant rains during the 2016 to 2017 season.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development together with the District Development Fund (DDF) have embarked on roads rehabilitation programme in Nyanga South constituency.

Most of the road network linking to the various tourists attractions were badly damaged forcing visitors to shy away.

The ZBC News caught up with the Transport Ministry officials rehabilitating and re-gravelling Mangondoza-Ruwangwe road.

Nyanga South legislator Cde Supa Mandiwanzira who is also the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courtier Services said the development is reflective of government’s commitment to addressing and meeting the needs of the people.

The rehabilitation programme will ensure that roads are trafficable, while at the same time assisting tourists to safely visit the numerous attraction sites in Nyanga according to Cde Mandiwanzira.

Motorists welcomed the new development saying this will improve movement on the roads.

Minister Mandiwanzira added that besides rehabilitation of the road network, DDF officials were busy drilling and repairing boreholes to provide clean and safe drinking water for rural folk.

Most of the road networks in various provinces were badly damaged by incessant rains experienced this year and the government set aside a fund for road rehabilitation.
