The government has started working on a number of road infrastructure projects in Mashonaland East under the emergency road rehabilitation programme.
Works on the Nyamuzuwe road were divided into three phases which include tarring of 2 kilometres from Mutoko Centre, 12 kilometres of re-gravelling and 33 kilometres of grading at a cost of half a million dollars.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Dr Joram Gumbo, who was the guest speaker at the commissioning of the Mutoko Centre/Nyamuzuwe Road revealed that a number of projects have already started.
Mutoko North legislator Cde Marble Chinomona thanked the government for rehabilitating the Nyamuzuwe-Mutoko Road which is one of the major roads in the district.
Some of the projects under the emergency road re-habilitation programme are Marondera-Wedza Road construction, Nhekairo-Chigondo Road, Mutoko-Rwenya, Murewa Madicheche and Murewa-Macheke Roads.
A total of US$148 million has been set for the programme countrywide.
