Professor Levi Nyagura

Suspended University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura will know his fate next week Tuesday when Acting Chief Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi will hand down his ruling over his application for exception to charges of criminal abuse of office.

Professor Nyagura was charged for allegedly corruptly influencing the awarding of a PHD to former First Lady Grace Mugabe.

He, however, maintains the charges are without merit as the conferment of PHDs is the prerogative of the university senate, council and the Chancellor.

The state maintains he committed the offence in his personal capacity and he must answer to the charges.
