The Norton Town Council has set in motion efforts to conform with the National Sports and Recreation Policy of increasing sporting activity in communities.
Formulating sport development committees has already begun in a drive being spearheaded by the Norton Town Council.
Norton member of parliament, Themba Mliswa, Sport and Recreation Commission representatives and Zimbabwe Olympic Committee president Admire Masenda were part of those who toured Dudley Hall Primary School with the view of setting in motion efforts to establish a centre of excellence.
Mliswa emphasized the importance of solid structures and accountability as a way of stimulating funding from government as well as the corporate world.
Masenda applauded efforts by Norton, urging the development committees to be persistent in their efforts of making the town a hub of sporting activity.
A rugby festival involving 10 primary teams was also part of the activity at Dudley Hall today with Mliswa taking time to give budding players at the competition some tips.
