The construction of the Norton road over rail project on the 40km peg along Harare Bulawayo is progressing well as part of the highway’s dualisation project.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Cde Joel Biggie Matiza visited the site to check on the progress.

Minister Matiza said the scale of the project shows the seriousness of the government led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to rehabilitate roads infrastructure.

The road over rail allows passage of vehicles at high speed without going through a rail level crossing.

Apart from the Norton road over rail project, the dualisation of the highway is progressing well up to the 60km peg from Harare.

Minister Matiza revealed that the project is being undertaken by local people using locally available resources, which shows that the country can develop itself, and urged other sectors to emulate the initiative.
