harare-magistrates-court.jpgThe current nationwide strike by Magistrates and supporting staff over inadequate salaries continued this Tuesday.

Concerned parties’ met in Harare but failed to reach an agreement.

The meeting that took place this Tuesday afternoon at the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe, involving the Judicial Service Commission, the Magistrates Association of Zimbabwe and the Chief Magistrate of Zimbabwe failed to find a solution to the crippling strike.

At the end of the meeting, the three parties gave a vague joint statement indicating their intentions to continue engaging while apologising to the public for any inconveniences.

There was no hint as to when the strike will end. Magistrates Association of Zimbabwe Secretary General, Mr. Munamato Mutevedzi confirmed the meeting had adjourned but could not comment further.

Acting Judicial Services Commission Deputy Secretary, Mr. Rex Shana said whilst they had persuaded the striking staff to reconsider their position, it was entirely upon the Magistrates’ representatives to get back to their constituencies and discuss with their members the way forward.
