Elderly residents of Harare’s high density suburb of Epworth were all smiles after a local charity organisation donated groceries to them.

Reverend Obadiah Musindo, founder of Destiny for Africa Network (DANet) said he learnt of the struggles of these elderly persons through their compassion outreach programme prompting him to come in with help.

“We have got a Destiny for Africa Network Compassion Outreach Trust which reaches to the less privileged in all areas in the country. Today we decided to come here to help the elderly by giving them the basic groceries like soap sugar, cooking oil among other items,” said Reverend Musindo.

The elderly residents expressed joy at the gesture which they said will lessen their everyday burden.

“We are happy at this gesture shown to us by DANet, we do not work because of our age so this will go a long way in providing for our daily needs,” said an elderly woman from Epworth.

The charity organisation revealed it intends to set up income generating projects such as poultry rearing so that it can assist a wider audience.
