Ngezi Platinum opened their 2018 Netball Super League campaign with a bang when they dispatched Beta Queens 43-39 in a match played at Conway College.

The visitors wasted no chance in the first quarter of the match to announce their intention to grind a result away from home soil.

The second quarter saw Beta Queens coming a better side in pursuit to reduce tally.

The visitors capitalised on fouls committed by their opponents and Beta Queens were punished.

Zimbabwe Netball Association fixtures secretary Agnes Chiroodza said the 2018 Netball Super League season will be an action field judging on the tempo from the Ngezi-Beta tie.

“This is the beginning of an action field season with committed clubs,” she said.

The league has 22 teams participating although information obtained indicate Destiny Queens might pull out due to sponsorship.

Defending champions Correctional Queens will have to be at their best to defend their title which is under threat from the Zimplats sponsored outfit.

Correctional Queens won last year’s crown on the last day of the season with Harare City Queens trailing by two points.
