cde s. k moyo 16-01-11.jpgThe Zanu-PF Politburo has nominated Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo as their candidate for the post of Speaker of the House of Assembly.

The post that fell vacant following the nullification of the election of Mr Lovemore Moyo of MDC-T by the Supreme Court on the 10th of this month.

According to the Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Rugare Gumbo, it is now the battle of the two Moyos; MDC-T’s Lovemore and Zanu-PF National Chairman, Cde S. K Moyo.

Interestingly, both are chairpersons of their respective parties.

Cde Gumbo said the Zanu-PF Parliamentary Caucus also met this afternoon and agreed to go with the recommendations of the Politburo.

Meanwhile, Cde Rugare Gumbo was nominated to the Senate to replace Vice President John Nkomo, while Cde Oppah Muchinguri will replace Vice President Joice Mujuru in the House of Assembly.

They will be sworn in at a date to be fixed by the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe.
