The visiting former Tanzanian President, Dr Benjamin Mkapa has commended the first family and the people of Zimbabwe for making use of their land resource.

Dr Mkapa, who arrived in the country on Monday on a one week official visit to Zimbabwe, visited the Mazowe valley today to acquaint himself with projects run by the First Family.

The First Family runs the Gushungo Dairy project, the Grace Mugabe orphanage and school in Mazowe, just over 30 kilometres north of Harare.

Accompanied by his wife, Dr Mkapa's first port of call was the Gushungo Dairy, which is value-adding milk in the production of fruit juices, yoghurt, ice cream and chocolates, for a ready market in many outlets throughout Zimbabwe.

At the Grace Mugabe Primary School, the Tanzanian delegation was met with children waving Zimbabwean and Tanzanian flags and singing.

The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe explained to them that the school is open to the members of the public who pay fees that can be channeled to support the charity work at the Grace Mugabe Children's Home.

The former Tanzanian leader also took time to sit behind a Grade One child desk and expressed his wish for all African children to have good educational facilities such as the ones at the Grace Mugabe School.
