The Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri says the forthcoming United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly provides a platform to show that there is peace and the rule of law in the country.
Commissioner-General Chihuri, who was the guest of honour at the handover ceremony of an accommodation block to the ZRP by Mbada Diamonds, stressed the readiness of the police force to ensure a successful UNWTO General Assembly.
The police chief, who commended the diamond mining firm for contributing immensely towards the development of the local society, underscored the importance of the global event in demonstrating that there is peace and rule of law in the country.
Mbada Diamonds Board Chairman, Dr Robert Mhlanga expressed confidence the facility will encourage and motivate the police staff to execute their duties diligently.
The ZRP accommodation block, which will be used by the police details who man the airport and diamond sorting and valuation centre at the Harare International Airport, is fully furnished and has 10 dining room suites as well as male and female wings.
