President Mugabe leaves for UN general assembly |

The Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe, has left the country for New York to attend the 67th United Nations General Assembly.
The assembly which will run from the 25th of this month to the first of next month under the theme: “Peaceful Resolutions of Conflicts”, will focus on energy supply and demand, women’s health and the Millennium Development Goals target.
He is accompanied by the First Lady, Amai Grace Mugabe, Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and other senior government officials.
Meanwhile, government has sent a protest letter to the UN Secretary-General Ban ki Moon over the denial of a visa to the ZBC’s Chief Correspondent, Rueben Barwe.
The Foreign Affairs Minister said they are taking the issue up as it is a repeat of what happened in 2010.
Minister Mumbengegwi said according to the UN Charter, all member states and their delegations are supposed to have access without hindrances to the headquarters of any UN organ.
