Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe left Harare on Monday morning for a routine medical checkup in Singapore.
The President was seen off at the Harare International Airport by Vice President Landa John Nkomo, Government Ministers Nicholas Goche and Aguy Georgias, Deputy Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Cde Christian Katsande and service chiefs.
Cde Mugabe had cataract surgery in Singapore in January 2011.
He is expected back home at the weekend.
Vice President Joice Mujuru, who is chairing the cabinet meeting today, is the Acting President until Cde Mugabe’s return.
When Cde Mugabe went on another medical routine check-up earlier this year some sections of the Western media working in tandem with their local partners peddled falsehoods claiming the President was in bad shape in a Singapore hospital.
However, Cde Mugabe returned home fit as a fiddle.
