Sergeant Chindito of the Zimbabwe National Army’s Three Brigade was crowned this year’s overall winner of the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) Commander’s Shooting Competition after scoring 268 points in the six day shooting extravaganza held in Harare.

Sergeant Chindito, who was also crowned the best in the uniformed forces’ males category, was rewarded with a US$1700 spending money prize, a holiday for two, a gold medal, a shield, a floating trophy and a DSTv decoder for his achievements.

Speaking at the prize giving ceremony of the occasion, AFZ Commander, Air Marshal Perence Shiri commended the uniformed forces for ensuring that peace and tranquillity prevail in the county.

He also called for the continuous co-existence between the private and the public sector, saying this is key to meaningful development.

This year’s AFZ Commander’s Shoot Competition drew participants from all the uniformed forces and the civilian community, and also saw an increase in the number of participants to 420 as compared to 350 who took part last year.
