Affiliate labour unions have castigated the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leaders for their infighting which has resulted in the labour body abandoning the plight of workers.
The battle for ownership and control of ZCTU assets between two splinter groups of the labour organisation, which spilled into the courts after the disputed August elections held last year, has been described as a sign of selfishness and greed on the part of the leadership.
ZBC News spoke to affiliate unions from both the Lovemore Matombo and George Nkiwane ZCTU factions who expressed great concern over the infighting which they said is against the co-objectives of trade unionism.
This view is shared by independent observers who say labour unions now concentrate on amassing wealth through fleecing employees of funds at the expense of protecting their interests.
The Supreme Court recently upheld a High Court decision stripping the Matombo led faction of ownership of the labour organisation, which had been issued by Justice Bere.
However, the ZCTU Matombo faction still contends that it still has a chance to reclaim control of the organisation given that it has another matter pending before the High Court.
