President Mugabe was speaking at a pass out parade of 79 Officer Cadets, who completed their 20 month long course.


He said despite economic sanctions, the academy has continued to show commitment to fulfilling its mandate of moulding young men and women of the country into competent and professional junior officers in the defence forces.

president 16.05.13.pngThe Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe has launched the food and nutrition security policy.

 

Launching the policy in Harare this Thursday, Cde Mugabe said because of the ever rising food prices and climate change, the food situation in Zimbabwe has worsened as the number of people unable to meet their daily food requirement has increased by 21 percent since 1995.


He said while Zimbabwe was renowned for its agricultural efficiency and as the bread basket of Africa, the status has suffered some set backs due to the adverse effects of the recurrent and often intermittent droughts that have wrecked havoc on the country.
