The Zimbabwe national soccer team, the Warriors crashed to a 1-nil defeat to Zambia in their opening Group D encounter at the ongoing CHAN finals in Rwanda.

The Warriors started well, with Knox Mutizwa, Francesco Zekumbawire and Edmore Chirambadare missing a host of chances before Zambian striker, Isaac Chansa punished them with a 57th minute strike that eventually sealed the victory for Chipolopolo.

Zambia had more composure, with the experience of Chansa and 2012 AFCON winning captain, Christopher Katongo, evident.

In another Group D match, Uganda and Mali drew 2-all, meaning that if Zimbabwe beat the two sides, it would be guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.

PRESIDENT R.G. MUGABE QUOTES

"I am here for as long as I am still sane, with good memory and will power. I thank God for giving me extra strength. I still have a bright mind; I still have will. I know our history more than you do. I know the wishes of those heroes and those who lie elsewhere more than you do. I know the wishes of the chiefs, dead and alive." - At 6th Zanu PF National People's Congress, 2014.
