Part of the Zimbabwe Universities team to the Confederation of Universities of Southern Africa (CUCSA) games in Namibia left Harare for Bulawayo where they will pick up other members of the team for the journey to Windhoek for the regional games.
The team comprises more than 146 athletes, both male and female, and will compete in different disciplines against some of the region’s best athletes.
The athletes, who were selected during the Mutare ZITISU games, will compete in track and field athletics, volleyball, basketball, table, tennis, football and chess.
One of the officials accompanying the team and Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association President, Liberty Maidza said the team was aiming to do better than the third place finish at the last games last year in Botswana.
Although the thrust is on development, the team is aiming higher than the third place finish.
