Dynamos Assistant Coach, Tonderai Ndiraya has predicted that his team will finally break the jinx of underperforming in the CAF Confederations Cup when they lock horns with Angola’s Interclube in a third round second leg tie this Sunday.
With a few days left before the Glamour Boys’ trip to Angola for the CAF Confederations Cup return leg encounter with Interclube, Ndiraya is putting on a brave face despite a history of not performing well in Africa’s second tier competition.
Despite being held to a goalless draw in the first leg a fortnight ago, Ndiraya believes DeMbare can still upset Interclube in their own backyard.
While Ndiraya is positive ahead of this weekend’s showdown, Dynamos have never done well in CAF’s second tier competition.
In 1997, DeMbare were knocked out by Jomo Cosmos while their last dance in the Confederations Cup was an embarrassing 5-nil aggregate loss to King Faisal of Ghana in 2004.
With history not in DeMbare’s favour, it will be interesting to see if Dynamos can gather courage that would restore their Glamour Boys’ status on the African stage.
