zim vs zebras.jpgThe Zimbabwe senior national team set in motion preparations for their encounter with Burundi ahead of a crucial 2013 AFCON qualifier with training at Rufaro Stadium this Wednesday.

The Warriors failed to train on Tuesday in a development that sparked debate on the approach to such an important assignment.

Despite disorder reigning supreme on Tuesday, Rahman Gumbo, David Mandigora and Under 23 gaffer, Peter Ndlovu, finally took the players through their paces at Rufaro stadium, much to the satisfaction of Team Manager, Nyika Chifamba.

Despite the Asiagate scandal which has forced Gumbo to make several changes, Chifamba remained optimistic ahead of the Burundi encounter.

Local players that trained in the afternoon included Charles Sibanda, Marlon Jani, Rodrick Mutuma, Denver Mukamba, George Chigova and Tapuwa Kumbuyani.

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Abbas Amidu was the only South African based player to report for training, with the Botswana’s duo of Mandla Sibanda and Arnold Chaka having already called in for duty.

Amidu’s South African counterparts are all expected later in the week owing to club commitments.

Esrom Nyandoro is set to turn out for Mamelodi Sundowns this Friday with Tinashe Nengomasha expected to play for Amakhosi on Saturday. Tapuwa Kapini will also be engaged in the ABSA Premiership on Saturday.

Dickson Choto, Archiford Gutu, and Onismor Bhasera who all ply their trade in Europe, were all expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday evening with Musawenkosi Mnguni scheduled to land on Thursday.

Knowledge Musona, Noel Kaseke and Vusa Nyoni who also play their football in Europe are set to catch direct flights to Bujumbura.
