Government has set sights on revitalising the National Youth Service (NYS) programme to ensure that graduates play a critical role in the socio-economic transformation.

National Youth Service graduates have held a meeting with the Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Cde Patrick Zhuwao to deliberate on ways of revamping the national youth services.

Considerable progress has been made towards the enactment of the NYS legislation with the principles of the NYS Bill currently under consideration before submission to the Attorney General’s Office.

A graduate from the NYS musician Sulumani Chimbetu says the programme remains relevant to the sustainable development of the country.

Government recently re-introduced the camp-based national youth service training with Dadaya Training Centre enrolling 112 youths who graduated on the 17th of December 2015.

"I am here for as long as I am still sane, with good memory and will power. I thank God for giving me extra strength. I still have a bright mind; I still have will. I know our history more than you do. I know the wishes of those heroes and those who lie elsewhere more than you do. I know the wishes of the chiefs, dead and alive." - At 6th Zanu PF National People's Congress, 2014.
