The Zimbabwe Media Commission Chairman, Mr Godfrey Majonga has called on journalists to uphold ethics and maintain a code of conduct that will enable the general public to have faith in the local media.

 

Commissioner Majonga was speaking at the official launch of the Zimbabwe Media Council in Harare this Thursday afternoon.

 

He said the formation of the media council is to ensure that ethical standards and professional conduct are upheld.


The newly appointed Chairman of Zimbabwe Media Council, Henry Muradzikwa said there is need for harmony in the journalism fraternity and media organisations should work together.


The Councillors in the Zimbabwe Media Council board include Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Happison Muchechetere, Zimpapers Chief Executive Justin Mutasa, Sister Veronica Dingi representing the religious sector, Multimedia Group Chief Executive, Major Tikiwa, Forward Gundu, Tryson Mudariki representing the youths, Ben Madzimure and John Sibanda.
