water crisis in harare.jpgStakeholders who attended the World Humanitarian Day commemorations in Harare have emphasised the need for government and non-governmental organisations to work together to address humanitarian issues.


The Deputy Minister of Regional Integration and International Cooperation, Cde Reuben Marumahoko, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to work with other development partners in humanitarian interventions.


Speaking at the same occasion, the Humanitarian Information Facilitation Centre (HIFC) director Virginia Muwanigwa acknowledged the important role the media plays in highlighting humanitarian issues.


The World Humanitarian Day is commemorated every year in August in recognition of the efforts made by civic organisations in addressing various humanitarian issues affecting society.


This year’s commemorations are running under the theme “people helping people.”
