In an incident which can best be described as shocking, some youths in Chitungwiza allege that they were recruited by a homosexual association which has a church operating in the capital.
The youths from Chitungwiza, who came out of the closet, said they were lured to join a gays and lesbians organisation which they refused to mention due to the fact that they have received gifts and cash.
They said their church operates clandestinely and their leaders encouraged same sex relationships.
Some Zimbabweans interviewed by ZBC News expressed outrage at the development and said punitive measures should be imposed on such errant people as their conduct violates expected moral practices.
A legal practitioner, Mr Jonathan Samukange said the legal framework of the country does not condone gay practices, adding that it is a misnomer to assume that consensual intercourse between adults of the same sex is legal.
Homosexuality though accepted in Western countries is generally frowned upon by Africans and only South Africa has legalised the practice within the continent.
The issue raised debate during the making of Zimbabwe’s new constitution.
Analysts claim Westernisation is the biggest threat to African practices.
