fire.jpgThe Masvingo Magistrates Court has gone up in flames in what police suspect is an act of arson.

When ZBC News arrived at the scene around 3.50am, the local fire brigade was already extinguishing the fire and a number of wooden cabinets containing dockets had been burnt.

Police spokesperson for Masvingo Province, Inspector Tinaye Matake said the arsonist must have cut off part of the court’s perimeter fence before gaining entry.

Inspector Matake said the intruder first of all tempered with the accounts department before torching the records room and the clerk office, doors of which had been tempered with prior to the fire.

He said investigations are still in progress and all court officials are under investigation.
